 Carolina Childcare Coop

What is the Coop: The Coop allows members to give away, sell, or trade services and goods via bartering! It was originally set up to trade childcare only, but has now been expanded so that members can trade other services such as yard work or pet sitting, and goods such as clothing and toys. The Carolina Childcare Coop is a special project of UNC-CH SPA.

Why join the Coop: Swapping with other students means you don't have to drive far, if at all, to swap goods and services. Most students are located on or near campus, thus allowing you to save gas and time! Why buy new when you can buy/swap used items and save a bunch of money? Why pay for a sitter when another student parent can help out for an hour here and there in exchange for something you have to offer? Also, swapping with other students fosters UNC's student parent community!

How do you trade with others: We have an online forum that allows each member to post his/her goods and services offered and wanted. Using the online forum, you can specify your preferred transaction method when you post (giveaway, buy/sell, or barter). You will gain access to the online forum once you submit your SPA Membership Application.

Who can join:  Members are restricted to parents who are either a student, postdoc, or medical resident at UNC-CH, and their significant others.

How to join: If you have not yet submitted the UNC-CH SPA Membership application, please do so and this will allow you to join the Coop. If you have already filled out the application and have decided you would like to participate in the Coop, please email the Coop Leader to apply. Once you have filled out the necessary application materials, you will gain access to the Coop's google group.
